How does exporting from Kenya work?
Exporting from Kenya starts with the export documents a clearing agent lodges in iCMS, KRA's customs system. Since May 2026, KRA has asked for the exporter's PIN and a valid eTIMS zero-rated invoice number on those documents, so the export value flows straight into the VAT return. Plants and plant products also need a KEPHIS phytosanitary certificate.
