Drafted, awaiting ADL

Sea Freight, Mombasa port

Your container handled at Mombasa, from discharge to delivery

Accord Diraks Logistics Limited (ADL) handles the Mombasa end of a sea shipment. ADL sees to cargo discharge, gets the cargo released from the shipping line and clears it with customs. Then its own trucks carry it to Nairobi. ADL takes containerised cargo, loose cargo, break bulk and specialised containers.

What ADL does when your ship reaches Mombasa

Drafted, awaiting ADL
  • Cargo discharge at Mombasa port.

  • Release from the shipping line. The shipping line issues a delivery order, its release of your cargo. It also holds a container deposit, a refundable sum it keeps until the empty container comes back. Both are the shipping line's terms, not ADL's.

  • Customs clearance, by ADL's own people at the port and at customs. See Clearing and Forwarding.

  • Delivery to Nairobi on an ADL truck with a tracking device. See transport from Mombasa.

How it works

What happens when my container reaches Mombasa?

Drafted, awaiting ADL
  1. Prepare

    1. Before arrival, you send ADL the bill of lading and the invoice.
  2. Discharge

    1. The vessel discharges your container at Mombasa.
  3. Customs

    1. ADL gets the release from the shipping line and lodges the customs entry.
    1. You pay duties through KRA's official channels, and customs releases the cargo.
  4. Road

    1. An ADL truck collects the container and the transport office follows it to Nairobi.
  • What sea cargo can ADL handle?

    Drafted, awaiting ADL

Containerised cargo, loose cargo and break bulk. A full container load (FCL), where your goods fill the container, is the simplest case. Specialised containers and urgent loose cargo are what ADL's transport division specialises in.

  • Who charges what while my container waits at the port?

    Drafted, awaiting ADL

Two different bodies charge. Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) charges storage once the free storage days run out. The shipping line charges demurrage and detention for keeping its container too long. ADL sets neither charge and cannot waive them, but it explains each one before you commit. See how many free storage days you get.
